Favour Jonathan

Favour is inspired by the traditional arts of the Bini People of Edo State, Nigeria. She uses their cultural knowledge, beliefs and traditional values in her work as a way of articulating in the contemporary world her own values and ideas of resilience, strength, and power.

Her work in the  perspective of an African woman living in London after growing up in Nigeria themes of home, identity and womanhood ripple throughout Favour’s work. She describes art as “everything that you live through and everything that you’ve been through.” She sees her artwork as an outcome from life's journey and unanswered questions in society.
